Syed Naqvi has 47 years of technical experience in different departments and areas of chemical industries. He has wide-ranging experience in plant operations, commodity chemicals production, process design, plant engineering, plant construction & commissioning and process economics. Syed joined SRI Consulting (now owned by S&P Global) in early 1996 and has been a major contributor to the Process Economics Program (PEP) which has done techno-economic analysis of more than 1300 industrial chemical production processes in the last 55 years of its establishment.

Syed has performed techno-economic evaluations of a number of newly emerging and commercially hot technologies for production of important commodity and intermediate chemical products (e.g. synthesis gas, linear alpha olefins, methyl methacrylate, polyethylene comonomers, ethylene derivatives such as ethylene dichloride, ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, vinyl chloride, polyvinyl chloride, methanol, oxo alcohols, acetic acid, dimethyl carbonate, BTX from light hydrocarbons, etc). His recent major work has been in the alternate and synthetic fuel technologies areas such as gas-to-liquid (GTL) fuels, paraffins, waxes and lube base oils production from GTL plant, dimethyl ether, methanol-to-gasoline, hydrogen, syngas-to-olefins, natural gas based products economic options, etc. etc. Currently, he is working on techno-economic analysis of CO2 utilization technologies.

Prior to joining SRI (now S&P Global), his experience included managing operation and production activities in alkalis, acids and hydro-metallurgical plants, where he held responsibilities at various levels. In addition to operation/production, he has worked in front-end role in the design and construction of hydro-metallurgical plants for nuclear projects also, where he actively participated, in mid-level and senior positions, in process designing, equipment specification & selection, equipment inspections, equipment installation, plant startup and commissioning phases.

Syed holds a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. He also attended a number of technical conferences worldwide in connection with his field of work.
