Nezo Sobekwa is a country risk analyst for the Economics and Country Risk team at S&P Global Market Intelligence with a focus on economic development, trade, and supply chain developments across Sub-Saharan Africa.Nezo forecasts political risks, particularly those associated with labor dynamics, social unrest, institutional capacity, and broader regulatory trends, and their impact on key sectors such as agriculture, retail, energy, and mining.
Prior to joining S&P Global Market Intelligence, Nezo taught international relations and political science at the University of Johannesburg and Monash University and was a researcher at a number of research institutes including the South African Research Chair on African Diplomacy and Foreign Policy.
Nezo holds a Master of Philosophy specializing in Politics and International Relations, with a focus on developmental diplomacy from the University of Johannesburg. Mr. Sobekwa is a native Xhosa speaker and is proficient in English, isiZulu, and Setswana.
